Professor at the University of Zielona Góra. A specialist in the protection and reclamation of degraded areas and soils of man-made areas. Head of the Department of Geoengineering and Reclamation, operating within the Institute of Environmental Engineering.

  • Soils of Urban, Industrial, Traffic and Mining Areas (SUITMA’s) – characteristics, pedogenesis (processes and factors), mechanisms of elements circulation, wastes as SUITMA’s parent rock materials

  • Urban and post-industrial land reclamation – techniques, technologies, reclaimed land development

  • Sustainable development of the urban areas; including green areas development, spatial planning, urban areas degradation and possibilities of their protection

  • Waste materials use as a soil fertilizers and conditioners

An introduction to the basic problems of soil science – soil genesis, soil chemical, physical, and biological properties, soil classification systems, soil as the place for plants, soil as an element of the entire environment. Estimation of the influence of soil characteristics on the habitat’s fertility including regulation possibilities. Causes and effects of the soil degradation processes; methods and techniques being used during reclamation activities.

Acquaint students with spatial planning and areas development as the starting point of environmental engineering
activities and documentation. Education the ability to use plans and other documents as a tool of environment
engineer's work.


Urban and Industrial Land Reclamation
Rekultywacja Gruntów Miejskich i Przemysłowych


The student becomes familiar with: the legal procedure for the recognition of degraded areas and its
consequences; recognize different types of land degradation including multifactorial events; technologies and
techniques used in the reclamation procedures; the methods of soils control.
